For example, last month I paid $50 shipping from Universal Surplus for a bunch of vintage bags and a jacket. \- So in addition to the deals you can find in their Summer Sales, the free global shipping w/ code is quite helpful in making this a good deal. \- Note: There was a gas leak and small fire at their location in Paris, which has temporarily closed down the stores. That's the reason they are offering free shipping. So I expect orders may take a bit longer to ship given that closure. **ABOUT** \- Brut Clothing & Universal Surplus are two Paris-based outfits run by Paul Ben Chemhoun, who has one of the world's best collections of vintage workwear & military clothing. (The actual archive still exists with items to rent or study for fashion & costume designers. Would love to visit someday!) \- In the meantime, Brut Archives re-creates & updates vintage pieces, while Universal Surplus sells actual military & workwear surplus at fairly reasonable prices. \- I learned about the brands via Derek Guy, who is a big fan of Brut's wide, slightly cropped hoodies, which they call "The Best Sweat": [https://brut-clothing.com/products/the-best-sweat-faded-red](https://brut-clothing.com/products/the-best-sweat-faded-red) \- Derek has also featured a bunch of Brut items on Twitter and in his "Excited To Wear" series, including their Ventile Wader Jackets, Patchwork Barbour Jackets, MA-1 Bomber Jackets, & Karakoram-Style down jackets. \- Brut's prices are pretty steep, but some of their sweatshirt colors and a bunch of their jackets are on sale, so this is a good time to try something from them given the free shipping kicker. \- By contrast, the prices at Universal Surplus are actually pretty reasonable for curated vintage stuff. And they have lots of cool Euro items that aren't typically seen in the US. I picked up this 1950s French field jacket for $59 last month for example: [https://universal-surplus.com/collections/jacket-field-jackets/products/m47-french-jacket](https://universal-surplus.com/collections/jacket-field-jackets/products/m47-french-jacket) \- I also grabbed this deadstock French duffle bag. It's really well made. Not cheap at $107, but still recommended: [https://universal-surplus.com/collections/surplus-bags/products/french-pilot-kit-bag-1970s](https://universal-surplus.com/collections/surplus-bags/products/french-pilot-kit-bag-1970s) \- For non-sale items, Universal Surplus' GATs look promising at $150: [https://universal-surplus.com/collections/surplus-shoes/products/german-army-trainer-gat-v2](https://universal-surplus.com/collections/surplus-shoes/products/german-army-trainer-gat-v2) https://preview.redd.it/p1rhac7hwwbf1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=7c3db53240e99b5c5cce3f91cabebfbe7d4a976c https://preview.redd.it/3g1xyazfxwbf1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=4bc8c70d727810ba7847e9ccdd68c2bb3371334a https://preview.redd.it/nu8kx8qoxwbf1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=ac4ed0787cb35b3a5e00c80354436e63f828bf14 https://preview.redd.it/om4offuxywbf1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=f92275695f00672339fe22d8e9820d4bb75a96c4
